Hi, I'm Ted Spradley, and I'm a recovering computer programmer.
Recovering as in retired, with experience going back to IBM 1401, GECOS-III, and PDP-11, through FreeBSD 2.0. Experience isn't worth much in this industry.
My family have accumulated about a terabyte of files, most of which would never be missed if it quietly disappeared, but some of it could be a serious problem, and nobody has the time and patience to separate the two. My old NetBSD file server is on its last legs, so I'm moving the files to an old Supermicro machine that was sitting idle, mainly because it has 16 gigabytes of ECC RAM, and I understand that's good for ZFS.
