I'm looking at server build to utilize TrueNAS as a storage solution. I had a few questions in regards to this build:
AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X 16-Core, 32-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor
Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black, Dual-Tower CPU cooler (140mm, Black)
AsRock Rack B650D4U-2L2T/BCM
4 x Micron - DDR5 - module - 32 GB - DIMM 288-pin - 4800 MHz / PC5-38400 - unbu
7 x Fractal Design FD-A-TRAY-001 HDD Drive Tray Kit - Type-B
Noctua NT-H1 10g, Thermal Computer Paste (10g)
Fractal Design Define 7 XL Black Brushed Aluminum / Steel E-ATX Silent Modular Full Tower Computer Case
2 x SABRENT 1TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 - mirrored boot drives
16 x Seagate IronWolf Pro 20TB NAS Hard Drive 7200 RPM 256MB Cache CMR SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal HDD ST20000NE000
CORSAIR SF750 CP-9020186-NA 750 W SFX 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply
2 x LSI Logic SAS 9207-8i Storage Controller LSI00301
CableCreation [Reversed Cable Mini SAS 36Pin (SFF-8087) Male to 4 SATA 7Pin Female Cable, Mini SAS (Target) to 4 SATA (Host) Cable, 0.5M, 1.6 Feet
I understand the processor is a bit overpowered, but based on the price and what I would like out of motherboard, this is what I settled on.
My questions are:
1.) Is the cooling sufficient for data storage?
2.) Are there any parts suggestions/substitutions?
3.) What is the best way to power additional sata drives? I have enough built-in power for 12 but would require 16 in this build. What's the best/most reliable way to power these (i.e. what connector/cables)?
I'm happy to answer any further questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
