Dear all,

Let me start saying that I am an absolute Unix (whatever variant) noob.
Due to my problems, I cannot offer you more system information.

I am running Freenas 8.03 now and the console still works fine, but after having entered the line ' media 1000baseTX mediaopt full-duplex' in the option box in the GUI, the IE cannot get contact anymore and it looks like the Network interface of my Freenas is shutdown after the startup.

I have a platform with on-board Network interface. It used to work fine with 1000baseT speeds in 8.01. because transfers never exceeded 80 Mb/s, I checked the interface setting using ' ifconfig -a grep media' as suggested in the manual and learned that the interface was set to 100baseT.

What can I do from the console to get contact again with the Gui?

Regards,
Bert

Some additional data

I have a Gigabyte GA-D525TUD board with 4 GB memory and on-board LAN.
During starting up, the interface stays active (light on Cisco switch) and lights on interface on motherboard indicate 1000baseT mode en some data.

During startup I see:
ether and mac adress
inet 192.168.0.250 netmask 0xffffff80 broadcast 192.168.0.255
media: Ethernet 1000baseT <full-dupplex> (none)
Status: no carrier
route: writing to routing socket: Network is unreachable
add net default:gateway 192.168.0.1: Network is unreachable

Hope this helps.
regards
Bert
