I currently have a 4x4tb RAID Z2 configuration on a Supermicro Avoton C2750 with 6 total SATA ports.
I'd like to add 2 additional 4tb drives for a 6x4TB RAID Z2 config. I bought an additional 6TB to hold my data so I can create the 6x4tb Z2.
The obvious issue is that once I create the 6x4tb pool, Ill be maxxed out on SATA ports and be unable to transfer my data. So how should I mount the 6TB disc (that has my data) to copy over to my 6x4tb pool?
So far I took a snapshot of my 4x4tb pool, and used ZFS replication to transfer data over to the single 6tb disk. I was thinking after I created the new 6x4tb pool, I would import the single temp 6tb volume by USB3 port and copy data back over to my newly created pool.
I think that sounds about right but thought I should probably bounce the idea off some of the more experienced members before I destroy and create my new pool.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
