Hi.

As of now I got 2x2TB and 1x1TB drives, and I'm only getting 1.8TB free space using ZFS RAID-Z.

So I'm wondering if I should replace the 1TB drive(Only got 3 sata ports) whit another 2TB drive?

I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do, and would appreciate some help.

Yes, in RAIDZ the smallest drive determines how much of each drive can be used. So you are effectively running a (3-1)*1TB = 2TB array, where you lose some additional space because of filesystem overhead etc. The 1.8TB makes sense. If you replaced the 1TB with a 2TB, you'd get (3-1)*2TB-overhead = 3.8TB or so..

Thanks for the info.

Having the 1TB drive ind the array makes no sense anyway, as I will get the same capacity and redundancy(Or almost) by mirroring the two 2TB drives.
