BUILD My first build ?

I live in New Caledonia, it's a French Isle in South Pacific Ocean, near Australia. In my country we don't have huge electronic stores so I must order everything "specific" over the Internet. I must group my orders too in 1 store only, because customs and shipment cost much, very much ! I must also find a store who delivers in New Caledonia, not very simple too !

So here is my future build, I wish.

Customs rate in my country for electronics : 34%....

So regardless the awful price (if someone can ship me the hardware, I would be happier), what do you think about this build ? I will create a RAIDZ-2 BTW.

I'm aware of the fact that I have to disable USB3 with this MB. I have also few questions :

- Anyone experencied the Fractal Design case ? 6 hard drives fit well in ?
- My only fear about FreeNAS is the failure of the motherboard, will it be easy to replace it ? (even 5 years later with different chipset, CPU, etc...), I have read this thread but I want to be sure : http://forums.freenas.org/index.php...u-replacement-need-for-a-fresh-install.12900/

I work in an IT environment so I'm aware of updates about FreeNAS and I will apply them.

- Can I add a graphic card later for HDMI output ? (PCI Express port)

Replacing motherboard should not be a problem. There is no point to adding a graphics card. No X11.

I would have liked to play movies FROM the NAS like a laptop (video output through HDMI). But I don't think it's possible.

I already have a laptop so I will stream from the FreeNAS with Plex plugin setup up.

I was just wondering if 16GB of RAM is enough ?

6 x 4TB in RAIDZ-2 needs 24GB ?

Maybe I can buy 6 x 3TB, it is closer to 16GB of RAM... (i.e 18)

What do you think ?

I also plan to buy a Intel Xeon E3-1220V3 (3.1 GHz) with a TDP of 80W.

I want to change the sink with a Noctua NH-L9i (not recommended for TDP > 65W), will it be better than the stock CPU fan ?
