I've tried to look for websites within the UK that sells the manufacturers recommended RAM and struggling. Im really looking for 1 or 2 8GB sticks or 2 or more 4gb sticks.

Does anyone else know of working RAM for the X9SCM motherboard?

I've tried the 2x 4gb sticks to hand (1333 1.35v ECC unbuffered nanya nt4gc72c8pg0nf-cg). but all i get is 4 short beeps. im assuming this is due to incompatible RAM.

Wow, a DRAM brand I didn't know about. That should scare you.

I'd suggest you try getting something directly from Crucial. I'm not familiar with the X9s' RAM QVL, but several people have used the 1.35V Crucial DIMMs with X9 board successfully.

Is there really a difference between choosing 1.35 or 1.5v ram?

Not much, but 1.35V works pretty much anywhere (except Nehalem systems, where 1.5V was "low-voltage"). It also tends to see more enterprise focus, since the savings do add up in a datacenter.

I've now tried some Samsung m391b5273dh0-yh9 1333 ddr3 1.35v. Again borrowed and know working from a spare server. And still getting 5 or more seconds wait then 4 short beeps.

on site i found said "4x short beeps - Wrong memory installed" and "4x beeps - CPU not supported"

more info, ive got the x9scm connected with the G2020 CPU installed, the 24+8 power from Corsair cs450m, speaker and the pwr button and led, and the 1 or 2 sticks of the above ram.

Ahh, i think its because the CPU is an Ivy Bridge, and im guessing the bios is an old version. The early bios came out with Sandy Bridge support but need a BIOS update to support Intel Ivy Bridge.

Now to down a server!!!!! lol.

Ive used the E3-1220 and i have bios version 1.0b so i need to update. - then i can give the E3-1220 back!

Ah i see, so it must of been E3-1220 V1, as i think the bios before flashing would only support Sandy Bridge, then after flashing i could use the G2020 which is Ivy Bridge i believe.

Im only piecing bit together that ive found today, so my knowledge is limited to this alone. I found that 4 beeps can be incompatible ram or (in my case) incompatible CPU. updating the BIOS added support for the Ivy Bridge.
