Hello everyone, i have been using freenas for about 3 months now.
I had it installed as a vmware Image. I really liked it, because i had been looking for something like this.
While i had freenas in vmware i started gathering the hardware to move over to an actual freenas box.
I get my hardware on tuesday and i wanted to move my harddrives there.

I had created a virtual disk for the install of freenas, and i did not use a usb.

Will i be able to just take my hard drives and move them over to my new set up or perhaps do i need to buy an extra hard drive to move the data there and then back again to the drives?

I had set up the drives in Raid 0; 3 x 3TB.

I hope your data isn't very important to you--when one of those drives fails, all your data will be lost. But with that said, if those drives are connected directly to the VM, you should be fine. Download the config file from the existing installation, install FreeNAS to your desired boot device, move the drives to the new system, and upload the saved config file. You may need to redo your network configuration, if you manually configured your network on the original install.
