Uhh.. good luck?

Not to sound like a total jerk, but generally if its not a pbi you are kind of on your own unless alot of people are working together on it. In your case, I've never even heard of midnight commander...

It depends upon what the many errors are (please paste them) and where you are running the command. If you're not running it inside a jail, there is not enough room to install it.

You could try
pkg_add -r mc-light
in a jail (works in 8.3 jail)

light doesn't require al of the x11 stuff

I tested it in a Jail and there it works -> "pkg_add -r mc"
So the Problem is, not enough Space on the Main System. Is it possible to install Freenas with a bigger Partition?

No. You should not muck with the OS installation. Just use it in a jail.

Uh. Future upgrades? Compatibility issues? Because it was designed to run off a thumb drive and not meant for you to install software on it? Why do you want it on there?

I want to have a File Manager on the NAS, i often need to move large files and directories and MC is good for that.
On the a Jail i tried to link the whole Pool to the Jail /mnt (in "Add Storage"), but it does not work.
