Mailserver on/in FreeNAS?

Currently I run FreenNAS 11.0U4 happily, alongside a small windows server running mail duties (using Mailtraq) Whilst I wait for 11.1 to finally emerge I was contemplating consolidating the two onto the one FreeNAS machine.

I was struck by what appears to be a complete absence of discussion about any mail server (IMAP) in a jail/VM etc on this forum (or maybe just missed it)

Sure I could fire up a VM and do anything I want (if I knew how!!!) but wondered if the absence of discussion indicates its "just a bad idea" in the first place. I'm just talking of a family IMAP server not anything grand (but including SPAM and AV functionality)

(If you come up with suggestions I'm a novice but tending towards jails at the moment...)

Just fire up a jail and install to your hearts content

If you're comfortable running your own mail server, there's no reason why you can't run it in a jail under FreeNAS.

You might have to adapt to a different software, but I'm sure you'll find plenty of information online.
