LAN / IPMI / USB a few quick questions

1. Should I hook up both a LAN and an IPMI cable from my server board to my router?

2. My Cyberpower UPS has a UPS connector which evidently send a signal to the computer when loss of mains power occurs. Hows do I sset up my computer (ort at least TrueNAS) to shut down safely when loss of power occurs?

That depends on how you've configured IPMI in your system BIOS, but I'd ordinarily say yes.

Since you don't say which version you're using (your .sig says FreeNAS 11.3, but you ask about TrueNAS), it's hard to say. But see:

OK thanks mate. Yeah currently FreeNAS but will update to TrueNAS core once I get back in :)

I don't know much about IPMI so I'll have to learn more about that.
