I've got a FreeNAS 9.3 installation (FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201502110455) and I'm trying to get a jail or two up and running for the first time. I configured jails on a dataset called "JAILS" and it appears to download OK. But, when I try to launch the shell from the FreeNAS UI, it opens for a short time and then automatically closes. Needless to say, I can't get in to the machine in my jail, so I'm experiencing a bit of a catch 22 here.

I also found this thread:

https://bugs.pcbsd.org/issues/7701

... which may or may not be related.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It does sound related. Sounds like a weird bug. I'll be interested to see what the resolution is.

Suggest you wipe out all jails you've created, you delete all templates in the warden, reboot, and start over. See if that helps.

("deleting all templates in the warden"---you'll want to google for tips on that)

Yeah, I kind of already tried that. I wiped my jails and the dataset for good measure and did it again, but with no luck/difference.

I think I'm going to try a plug-in next to see if it has the same issue.

The one thing I haven't yet done is to reboot the box. Maybe I'll give that a shot before I do anything else.
