I changed my subnet and now I'm having trouble getting my jails up and running again.

My old subnet was 192.168.1.0/24, now I'm on 192.168.88.0/24.

FreeNAS received an IP via DHCP fine and I can reach it (192.168.88.61) and manage it through the web interface.

However, if I select either DHCP or try setting a static IP in the web UI for my jails, they still maintain an address on the old subnet -- even if the front-end says they're on the new subnet (this happens when I use a static address).

I've tried restarting the box and that didn't help.

Code:
~# ifconfig
em0: flags=8943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500

Any ideas? I can't run dhclient or ifconfig within a jail because they don't have permission to the network device...

edit: oh, yea, setting that one to 192.168.88.255 was dumb, but it makes no difference for the problem i'm having

I am hoping that you rebooted the system since making the change or better yet had it powered off when you changed the net.

The problem is likely that the devices registered with the router their old IP address and it's sitting in it's tables. First thing I would do is double check in the router that any reservations are removed. Then power it and the FreeNAS down for at least five minutes, make sure the router or modem/bridge and any switches are completely unplugged. Go to the bathroom spin around five times say the name of a long lost relative while looking in the mirror with the lights off at least 100 times, recite the alphabet backwards, count to 1000 and then power everything back up.

I am guessing that it will be fixed. But if not you may have skipped a step or picked the wrong relative.

Hehe. The router's ARP tables were empty actually...

I managed to get it working, but wasn't able to use DHCP.

I had to click each entry, unselect DHCP for IPv4 and IPv6, remove "AUTOCONF" from IPv6 IP, specify a static IP for IPv4, and unclick VIMAGE. Then, restart the jail.

I think there's a bug in the web interface. Whenever I select a jail to edit, it goes to the "basic mode" editing screen with everything set to DHCP/AUTOCONF regardless of the actual configuration. Is this a known issue?
