Hi all!

This topic is based on http://support.freenas.org/ticket/1934 . I'm not the author of original message, but I have successfully reproduced described story.

So, you have to copy a file with read-only attribute to CIFS share. For example using Windows 7 as a client OS. Now it's impossible to delete this file using CIFS.
Can anyone confirm this?

My CIFS settings:
Authentication Model = Anonymous
Support DOS File Attributes = Yes
Unix Extensions = Yes
Local Master = Yes
Large RW support = Yes
Send files with sendfile(2) = Yes
Allow Empty Password = Yes

Note, and note well: if you (your user) don't have read access to a file, you can't read it, and can't change access modes on it.
Think about it: if you could, you could just change the attributes of files belonging to another user in order to copy them...
