Does FreeNAS 8.3 x64 support the Intel Z77 chipset? I was only able to find one hit on the Z77 Chipset and it's in German, so that doesn't help me much...

I've order an Gigabyte ITX Motherboard GA-Z77N-WIFI, i5-3570K 3.4 GHz and 16GB of RAM - am I good ?

Any feedback would be appreciated (more appreciated, however would be a FreeNAS 8.3 chipset compatibility link...).

Thanks, Mike

Hey - having received no replies to this post I went ahead and wow ! what a rocket system - 8.3 p1 sees everything but treats the USB 3.0 as 2.0 - I'm sure I could install the driver but for now I'm moving on - FTP listing and deletes are lightning fast - directory listing in Windows 7 and OS X Lion & MonteLion are at least twice as fast - woo hoo !!

USB 3.0 support can be enabled, but USB is not recommended.

To clarify this statement:

-USB for anything except boot drive is NOT recommended.
-USB 3.0 for the boot drive doesn't affect performance significantly, so the recommendation is to leave it off. Too many USB 3.0 chips don't play nice with FreeBSD, which is why USB 3.0 is disabled by default.
