Installing FreeBSD packages not included in FreeNAS

So, anybody know how I can enable using PKG or PORT? I want to install 7-zip, but it's not finding it when I do the `pkg search` or `pkg install` commands.

My understanding is that you can do it in a jail, but installing packages directly in the FreeNAS appliance is not supported and they actually go to some effort to try and make it impossible.
In a jail, it should be as easy as doing, pkg install p7zip because the jails are regular FreeBSD, where FreeNAS is a customized version that has certain functionality removed.
