Okay so I tried freenas on my home network and damn it's easy as 123 when installing. Everything went smooth but I have several questions because I want to implement it on a small SPED school.

The school has more or less 30 computers. It needs a server (basically just a file server).

1. Is freenas good for 30+ computers?
2. I noticed in my test when I was copying files into my server from another computer it was really slow. What are the factors affecting this?
3. This is probably unrelated but, what router is best paired with FreeNAS and suited for 30-40 computers?
4. Does FreeNAS have an extension for document tracking?

Thank you,

1. Sure
2. If using cifs make sure you have plenty of ram and CPU power. Also make sure you have gigabit switches in place. Lots of factors come into cifs speed but that's a good start to check.
3. Router shouldn't matter as your clients should only be going through the router when connecting to the internet. You should have switches in place to facilitate all your devices.
3. No
