I have 2 IBM Storwize v3700 expansion enclosures hooked to an LSI hba..

If I only hook up one enclosure, everything works great with it.. When I hook up the 2nd enclosure(either daisy chained or using the 2nd port on the LSI card), truenas see the enclosure was added but none of the drives show up..

What else I found was, if I unplug both enclosures from server and hook up the 2nd enclosure, truenas sees it and all of the drives in it.. Then if I hook up the 1st enclosure again, truenas sees the enclosure added but, none of the drives in it..

Seems like it will only do one enclosure at a time and only the first one that I hooked up

Any thoughts?

More information is needed, specifically are you using the latest TrueNAS Core release?
Please specify version.

What model & version of firmware is loaded on the LSI HBA?

Are you sure both are Expansion Enclosures?
Not one Control Enclosure and one Expansion Enclosure?

One problem is that a Control Enclosure appears to perform hardware RAID, (but I could be wrong...).

Another problem is that the enclosures may need to be wired up in a specific manor to work. More research would have to be done.

Im running truenas core 13.0-U5.3

Controller is an LSI sas3008 with 16.00.10.00 firmware in IT mode..
Both enclosures are expansion for sure..

I have tried daisy chaining the enclosures and also running them directly to the sas card, same result..

Great.

From my reading, their are specific SAS ports for specific tasks.
- The left 3 SAS ports are "host" ports, (to host LSI HBA)
- The right 1 SAS port is for expansion, (to one of the 2nd Expansion Enclosure's "host" ports)

Are your Expansion Enclosures wired like this?

It's possible that the Node's canister ports are different. I just found this;

The expansion enclosures only have 2 ports per node, in and out..

Okay.

Does the front panel have any enclosure number switch?

Then I am out of ideas, sorry.

Perhaps someone else can assist further.
