Guys.
I am building a new FreeNas systems and starting to collect the bits. So far I have a HP ML310e , 16GB of RAM. Disks not purchased yet. I did want to check however that an IBM LSI ServeRAID-M1015 6Gbps PCI-E controller 46M0861= SAS9220-8I is still a viable choice. I under stand I would need to flash this card so that it runs JBOD. but before I go hunt one down I just wanted to make sure you think this is still a good valid and stable card.

Thanks in advance

Yes, the M1015 is still a good choice and it's pretty simple to cross flash to a 9211 in IT mode. A flashing guide is available in the resources section.

M115 and other similar cards from other manufacturers are also just as viable.
