HP ProLiant ML350 G6 Server Build - Expanding an HP server well beyond its limits

New members often wonder if buying a used HP server off newegg.com for $300-$600 is "worth it," why it won't boot off USB, and/or what hardware can go in it and how far the systems can be pushed. This is my journey.

Nice project!
Do you have any photos of the inside and outside of the server?

Yes, and am trying to find time to finish the build (I upped the storage again, so it's on something like its 4th build). When I have time I'll post pictures, so far the build is going well.

I just picked a few of these servers up myself, I'm also interested in updates.

Specifically, moving from the P410i to an HBA since it seems you can't use TruNAS (properly) with the P410i. This is my first experience in building a NAS box so I'm not sure how that all works yet in its entirety.

It's a solid box that generally doesn't need much in the way of hardware to run well. I'm trying to finish a USB toolkit to make working on these really easy. (it'll be on these forums for free, this week/end I took a flight out of town for...uh..."business" so am running behind  )
