Hi,

My challenge started when migrated from FreeNAS over to TrueNAS. I can't get my guest OS in Bhyve to use vlan network. This was possible when using FreeNAS. I would like to do network separations for some of my bhyve instances as they are in my DMZ.

My setup
Version: TrueNAS-12.0-U3

Hardware
Manufacturer: Supermicro
Product Name: X10SLM-F

Is there a guide how the network should be configured so the bhyve guest OS can be configured to use vlan?

  • Create VLAN interface with desired physical interface as the parent
  • Disable hardware offloading and remove IP address (if present) for physical
  • Create bridge interface with VLAN as only member
  • Assign IP addresses (if removed from physical) to bridge interface
  • Assign bridge interface to virtual network device in VM devices settings
  • Reboot once after all the bridge changes are complete

You are aware of the two step "test" and "save" process for any network changes?

yes, i've seen i've to test my change and they are rolling back after some delay if unsuccessfull.

when i click test, the UI is loading and when i'm logging back, changes are not made.
So i do something wrong in the config but i don't know why.

I've install truenas on a dedicated server rent from an ISP.
The NIC is "eno1" with dhcp enable and received a public IP.

From that config i would like my VM can access to internet and be accessed from internet something like NAT/PAT.

You need to click "save" within 60 seconds after clicking "test".
