Hello!

I'm running freenas relase 8.04. And I'm searching for a way to hide a share from other users?
Scenario: You have two companies connected, and it is critical that they cant see each other shares... Anyone know if that is possible? I havent figured it out yet..

Thanks..

Suuuuurrrreeee it is... admit it, you want to hide your pr0n folder from your wife ;)

I think you can hide shares from different hosts, but I'm pretty sure you can't hide them from individual users.

Uncheck "Browseable To Network Clients"

Add "Allow" / "Deny" to Auxialary options in the CIFS configuration:

hosts allow = 127.0.0.1 192.168.2.0/24 192.168.3.0/24
hosts deny = 0.0.0.0/0

yeah that worked... but maybe not in that way we want.. we are looking for a way so that it is not hiddent from yourself, but just from others. so you can see it, but no one else..

And we would like to find some way to be able to SSH to the share too..

Hiding Shares

If you can't hide the share, what about just changing the permissions/groups so that the folder tree isn't visible?
