I have a volume which I'd like to add an SSD ZIL to. Can't seem to find a GUI option to do it...

The new disk has device id of /dev/ada0

The volume is called volume1

Can I simply run:
zpool add volume1 log ada0

Or do I need to format ada0 to a GPT partion and point the zpool add command to that first?

Bummer, missed that! Ended up adding the drive to the Zpool by missing out the log statement in zpool add. Duh. Thankfully made a backup before messing with things.

Is there an update to this topic? I'll keep searching. But adding zil to existing volume would be nice.

It was definitively answered four years ago. Why did you revive a four-year-dead thread to re-ask something that was already answered, in that thread?
