I know this is pretty personal question, but I am trying to figure out how much space I need, and should I make room for expansion?
I just lost a 2 Tb drive with most of my photos, music and movie backups. I have a few 500Gb, and another 2TB i have been using.. moving files around... you know the drill. I think i'll need about 6Tb for most of my regular stuff and use it for media streaming, online photo dumping, and maybe an FTP for file sharing between work and home.
I have decided to make a personal home FreeNAS build, so never have to go through this again. I have budgeted myself about $800... Which means I can most likely afford about 12Tb.
Would you buy a micro case, and put in 4x 3Tb or 3x4Tb. Is buying a case with only 3 or 4 spots wise, or am i better off convincing the wife i need a larger case for 6 drives?
