Sorry if this has already been asked. On FreeNAS 9.2.1 I have a zpool consisting of 2 mirrors, striped together. It's just grown that way. I realise that other zpool configurations would be more efficient for a 4 disk array. My question is how can I convert one to the other, reusing the same 4 disk drives - I don't want to have to buy 4 more.
I have a full backup of the relevant volume, run nightly using Rsync. So I could destroy the data pool and re-create it in it's new configuration, then restore the data using Rsync. But how do I recreate all the nested datasets and CIFS shares, without re-entering them from scratch. Is there a way to back that up so that I can restore it when the new pool is created?
Many thanks,
Pete
