It looks like NFSv4 support is not included at the moment. The dev team is still discussing how to safely expose this in the GUI, given the differences introduced by NFSv4.

And another way as GUI?
I found that the file /etc/defaults/rc.conf has some points for NFSv4

nfsv4_server_enable="NO"
nfsuserd_enable="NO"

But this is not all :(

Can someone please clarify if nfs4 is supported in FreeNAS 9.1.1 and if so how to activate it without the gui? Can we just go ahead and set it up as per the normal config files like in Freebsd?

There's a recent bug about there not being an item in the issue database. I'm curious too if it's listed somewhere in the issue database. The problem is that some software just doesn't work fine on NFS v3 due to the locking. (For example, LibreOffice or Nepomuk). I haven't had any issues with those for the past years using NFS v4. In Linux clients, you don't even have to define the version anymore. It automatically picks the highest version supported by the server.

Is v4 compatible with NFS v4.1? The only suitable windows post xp client I could find seem to only support v4.1
