One other minor detail I have noticed is if you intend to use the embedded install and you have 32GB of RAM then your swap will need to be 32GB (I think). That means that the USB stick is probably too small? Thats if you intend to install it on the USB stick which is why your buying 2?

I am using a single 16GB USB stick with 32GB of RAM

If you get two they work like a mirror in case one fails, select both USB drives when installing

FreeNAS creates a 2GB swap partition on each disk.
The swap is not on the boot device.

And, if I'm not wrong, in normal conditions (like home usage of small loads) the swap shall not be used.

Do you mind me asking where does the swap file reside?

A part of it is on every disk in your pool

Code:
[root@freenas] ~# gpart show da0
=>  34  3907029101  da0  GPT  (1.8T)
  34  94  - free -  (47K)
  128  4194304  1  freebsd-swap  (2.0G)
  4194432  3902834696  2  freebsd-zfs  (1.8T)
  3907029128  7  - free -  (3.5K)

Hope this helps

If your swap is ever used I advise more RAM, once RAM is maxed out dedicated high speed devices are needed and are far better than swap

Have Fun

Be aware, the silverstone ds380 has cooling issues.

Yes, a number of people have said this. It's fine for me so far, though; I have my four disks spaced out evenly, and it's been steady at 29-30C regardless of load. But am keeping an eye on it!
