Help recover my data please. Freaking out.

Let me start by saying I am very very sick to my stomach. The first error I go this morning was WARNING: The volume NAS1 (ZFS) status is UNKNOWN. I did a search and was quickly overwhelmed with what I needed to do next. One search leads to a process or command that leads to another search. It is too much to try to decipher to begin to figure out how to recovery the drives. Can some one please help me figure out how to get back to my data? I have 2x 3tb drives that I think are RAID1 . The system was built very early on and was done so to be thrifty at the time. I am completely able to now go with a RAID10 setup and get as many drives as required to do so. My data is EXTREMELY important and I have to recover it somehow. I am scared to just start trying things for fear of losing otherwise recoverable data. I did do the CLI zpool status -v to which I got no pools available. I just don't know where to start.

I can provide any info needed. I am just looking for a big helping hand to guide me thru the recover, back up and swap/addition of HDD's and RAID reconfigure.

If I have posted any info incomplete or incorrectly I apologize but I am freaking out. Thank you in advance and I promise to do better next time Godfather. :(

It's that important but you don't have any backups?

Normally I'd say follow the instructions for your version of FN: http://www.freenas.org/images/resou...as8.3_guide.html#__RefHeading__9510_322745209

However, you definitely don't have a RAIDZ1 with 2 drives. If it was a stripe, your data is gone, if it was a mirror, it is recoverable if one drive is working. Post your output of zpool status.

You are correct. Shame on me I will take that blame 100%. Bad me Bad me Bad me. I built the system a long time ago, all was working well and sort of forgot about it until today. If we can keep the butt reamings until the end I would really appreciate it. And gladly accept them :)

You gurus possess all the knowledge, I do not. I am desperate for help. If I cannot get help on the forum, a step by step process to identify the erroring drive, replace it, have it update the new drive, get me all safe and warm and fuzzy again, can someone point me in the direction of where or how i can get this help/info? I am not motivated by free. if it's a pay resource that is fine with me. Just need my data back. My business relies on it.

based on this info is it striped or mirrored? Now I know you are going to say well dumb a** it says mirrored and my instinct is to say yes its mirrored so we got a shot here, but can anyone confirm that it is in fact mirrored and we have a chance of recovery? thank you.

The question is why the pool has been detached?

Not sure, if ZFS has drop the whole pool then I'd say it's not an encouraging sign.

First, at your place, I'd try to reboot the server (pools are imported during boot) just to make sure everything is ok (like your boot drive for example) and to let the server try to import the pool normally.

it hangs at mounting local files systems: for a while then i get the last line then it eventually gets to the 1-11 menu. any ideas? thanks.

No, you can use the GUI shell, SSH, ... it doesn't matter.

have attempted the command several times, several different ways and rebooted a few times. After I type i tin and hit enter it doesn't really do anything. How quickly should the response be?

can you explain to me the result i should see after i type the command in and hit enter? currently, after i type it in, hit enter, the cursor goes to the next line and nothing else happens. how long should it take to execute that command? what result should i read on the screen? thanks.
