been playing with computers for 20 years, self taught
attempting my first NAS.
with an old computer I have: sabertooth 990fx r1, amd 8350, some old drives 2x2tb and 2x3tb, and picking up a 60gb ssd to hold the Freenas
16gb ram, for now....
open to any an all suggestions, as this part is all new to me...
also wondering what to do with the utility drivers for the motherboard?
thanks

Welcome to the forums!
The only suggestions I have is to try and not have too much fun with FreeNAS :p
Read all the resources in this forum until your eyes bleed ;)
Start with a Stable version, which is 11.1 U6, avoid the 11.2 BETA versions for now.
You may run into minor issues with using a desktop/gaming mobo, but FreeNAS
should run well enough for entry level trials and experimentation.
