Heeelp! Can't open zpool 'Volume1'

Hallo,

I need really help. Expert's help.
But I'm german and not very good in english. Please explain me in simple words.

My machine:
AMD 8Core Proc., 8GB RAM, FREENAS 9.2.1.6 (USB stick 4GB)
6x 2TB Harddisks in a RAID5, Z1, ZFS
I want expand the pool named "Volume1" with 6x 4TB WD RED Harddisks.
But after 2 Harddisk appear problems. First with new harddisk (one or more works not correct). So the pool are not available. Now the pool is "UNKNOWN".
Now built-in all old harddisks again. But it's the same.
What could I do? Or did I have lost all the data?
Please, help me. On Volume1 is my complete video archiv, about 2000 movies. I don't want lost all the data!
Help me save the data.

I make no claim to be an expert, but I don't see any explanation of the method you used to expand the "Volume1" pool. I think the experts will need that information if they are going to help you.

thanks for your help-signs and the lovely german words!

Well, the expand method like in the manual.
Checked the "autoexpand=on" before replace. Then replace one harddisk, resilvering it and then replace the next one.
The new #3 harddisk fail, it was defect. I need a time to repair the problem. Then replace it again and it works - for first time.
#4 harddisk was no problems - first. But then with #5 freenas can't open volume1. I checked, that one or more harddisk was not connected. Don't know why. Since this point, I think how I can save my data and do nothing without knowing what I do, only rebuilt /built-in) the old harddisk in the server. But same message: No such pool. Can't open Volume1. In GUI I get the message "Can't calculate the (new) space for Volume1". In german it's other words, but the sense is same.

This problem is also posted in german-forum.
But germans has also no solutions for my problem....

I hope, somebody can help me!

If you have 2 bad disks with RAIDZ1 your pool is done for. RAIDZ1 can only function with 1 failed drive.

Thanks, cyberjock, for your help.
But I know that. I don't know what could I do next! Should unmount and re-mount (in german "aushängen & importieren") or what else. There are my data on this harddisks and I can't read it becaus freenas not know that there is a Volume1.

Please, all you experts, say something and help me!

I don't have anything to offer to fix your problem. You appear to have 2 disks bad in a RAIDZ1. That is an unrecoverable situation for ZFS.

Hallo,

thanks a lot all of you!
I clear the situation:
1.) I unmount the pool 'Volume1'.
2.) I replaced all SATA cable and built-in all ready risilvered harddisks in server.
3.) Then I import the pool 'Volume1'. And it works. So I see, that one of the old disk is offlined, my last action before the problem! But freenas show the pool "DEGRADED".
4.) In GUI I re-imported the pool also. And it works. (zpool import Volume1)
5.) Now I backup a part of movie data...only less, because no place anymore.
6.) After backup I try to replace the last new harddisk (that work perhaps). But it fail. Second new harddisk is defect.

After this, the NAS is off now. There is an data error appeared.

Next steps:
a) Send back the defect harddisks
b) Receive 2 new harddisks in a few days
c) Replace all old harddisks, one by one. Press thumbs!
d) Check the expand of pool. Only if the pool is ONLINE.
e) Do a scrub, to check all data.
f) Check the SATA cable again. Not all are defect, I'm sure.
g) Check all system and pool.

Okay. That's it!
