Either that (i.e. run svnserve on FreeNAS directly) alternatively run svnserve on any other machine, with its repository on a file share on the NAS. Even including your local PC. I.e. you would use an svn client to do a local checkout into a working folder, pulling the copy down from the server running on localhost, which in turn manages the master repository which resides on a mounted file share.
NB not sure how well any of that works via smb, and I have myself only interacted with svn servers running in linux/unix environments.
