Harddrive password

Hi,
I have played around with the 8.3.1 encryption feature and it works fine except for performance. My Atom mITX is not powerful enough.
So I got the idea if the hard drive password functionality could be used by the freenas GUI? I do not know that much how it works. My BIOS only have the "Supervisor password" not the "HDD Password".
My uscase is to make it hard enough for an external person to get hands on my personal data if the computer gets stolen.
Anyone have any comment on this?

My comment is not to use an Intel Atom. Atoms are NOT workhorses, and do NOT support the AES CPU extensions. If you are not happy with the performance you will need to build a more powerful machine.
