Hi

I moved locations recently and ended up using a new router (ZTE F66) as that is what my ISP supplied). I could nnot get it to use my old ip address of 192.168.1.2 so tried to change it to another. My Router assigns Ip addresses by the LAn connections 192.168.2-10 on LAN1 an LAN3 has 192.168.1.20-30 whcih is were all my jails were so I wanted to change my IP address to 192.168.1.30.

However after changing I now get freenas init: getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/ttyv0, sleping fro 30 secs.

I cannot log on through the GUI as the IP address doesn't appear to respond to a ping and I cant do anything with the original Console setup.

How did you change the IP address? Did you reboot and use the one assigned by the DHCP server? Any other errors in /var/log/messages?

Ive since re-done my FREENAS install and its ok apart from no network

I changed my IP address with the console, now I just cannot get an IP address, I had two routers before that were ok - a 3bb Dsl (Thailand) and a Netgear D 6300, Now Im in Indonesia and the ZTE F660 (fibre optic) wil not recognize my FREENAS or Vice -Versa

Post the output of ifconfig in code tags or as a screenshot.

OK, try this from the console:

Press 9 to enter the shell, then type:

killall dhclient
dhclient em0

If that gives an error, post a screenshot of the error.

Everything looks okay on that ifconfig. Of course it's not totally okay since you have no IP. I'd say you're left with 2 possibilities:

1. The Intel NIC in question is bad.
2. Your router isn't handing out an IP.

Ok

Killall dhclient
No matching processes were found
dhclient em0
DHCPDISCOVER on em0 to 255.255.255.255 port 57 interval 3
DHCPOFFER from 192.168.1.1
DHCPREQUEST on em0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
bound to 192.168.1.21 -- renewal in 43200 seconds

I'm no Network man but that sound s like I have my ip set to 192.168.1.21 whcih I have set however my computer cannot log onto it.

Hahaaa

Ive just tried the IP address with my Wifi connected phone and can log into the GUI -- thanks. but why won't my Computer log on.

This ZTE router appears to allocate IP addresses to each LAN connector and the two machines are on different connectors, I tried to connect my Netgear D6300 to with no luck either.

Are you using the correct credentials (root, whatever_password_you_set)? What error do you get when you try to login?

I am putting 192.168.1.21 in to my browsers address (Firefox) and it times out. If I use my android phone I can get the Freenas GUI

It all sorted now the ZTE Fibre optic router apparently doesn't like working as a router. The internet provider technician came out and after about an hour phoned his office who told him that the router function has problems.
