I currently have FreeNAS setup using AD authentication to DCs which are hosted on an ESXi box's local datastore. As long as I start the ESXi box up first, FN is able to contact the KDC and authenticate, etc.
I'm in the process of moving my ESXi datastores to iSCSI, hosted on the same FN server as my AD shares. Once I'm done with this, it will be impossible to start my DCs up prior to FN starting. Although this won't be a huge problem, since neither server should be restarted that often, any time they are restarted my AD shares will not be mapped correctly. Is there any mechanism to prevent this? Will the AD service try to restart if it doesn't successfully connect to a DC on bootup?
