Hello,
I'm trying to build serious freeNAS around brand new IBM x3650M4 server with ibm serverRAID M1015 LSI ctrl cross flashed to a LSI9211IT (i use diff versions P15, P17, P20) and hard drives 2.5" 900GB/10K/6Gb sas (IBM FRU 81Y9651).

All HW is ok and tested on different platforms (Linux, VMWare ESXi, .....) but when i install freeNAS i always have same problem (regardless of drivers version, freNAS version ...). FreeNAS have problem recognizing this hard drives.
i tried same configuration ut with sata drives instead sas and worked fine. With any kind of sas or nlsas drives i always have same problem:

Is it possible that freeNAS cannot recognize IBM branded sas HD-s?
Any suggestion?

Don't bother with anything besides P20. You need P20.

If P20 exhibits this issue, I'd suspect backplane issues.

If your server has an SAS2 (6Gb/s) backplane, make sure it's updated to the latest firmware version.

If your server has an SAS3 (12Gb/s) backplane, you might have a bigger problem on your hands. Still, update the backplane firmware and see where that leads you. However, SAS3 is still a bit unreliable, especially when mixed with SAS2.

Right now is P20, backplane is 6Gb, Raid ctrl is also 6Gb same as hdd. i have 6 drives with same results.

On very same hardware and firmware there is no any problems running vmware esxi. That is mean all hw is ok.
when i put sata drives inside they works as charm. (as sata can .... but that is not what i want)
I change couple ServerRAID ctrls with same results.
When i use original ibm fw for raid ctrl and use JBOD they are working fine but, of course, that is not recommended configuration and i can not use that in production.

Are you using the P20.0.0000.04 (or some similar version number) or just P20.0.00000000000? The original P20 had some issues and was replaced with the P20 with the 4.
