I'm looking for recommendations to replace the case my current FreeNAS Mini XL (first generation) is running in. My desire is to reuse the current motherboard & core components. I'm find with needing a new power supply. I've already replaced the original motherboard (failed) with a SuperMicro A2SDI-8C-HLN4F Mini ITX board.
Current Setup:
Mini XL with 8x6tb WD REDs in Raid Z2 configuration
Dual MSATA Boot drives
1xSSD Cache drive
10 GB PCI-E Adapter
My goals:
Reduce Temperatures of drives, I'm currently seeing temperatures of 40-43 degrees
Reduce the noise
I'd like to retain hot-swap capabilities and either re-use the existing drive cages or replace with something like ICY Dock or Rosewill makes, but hot-swap is not a requirement
Tower form factor is a must, I don't have a rack to put this in.
I do plan to replace the 8x6tb drives in the near future, they are getting up in age and starting to throw errors, some of which I assume are from the drive temperatures.
