Hello All,

Our cleaner managed to snap the FreeNAS boot USB stick the other day, which obviously prevented my FreeNAS server from booting.

Once the shock had subsided, I realised I had a backup of the FreeNAS config db from just a few days ago.
I managed to get my FreeNAS server back up and running in around 15 minutes :)

Although the theory is simple, I was partially expecting all sorts of things to be broken once I did the recovery. However the complete opposite happened, once I had restored the config onto a new FreeNAS build everything worked perfectly! Even my jails and plug-ins.

10/10 to the FreeNAS developers! Awesome job guys.

Kind Regards,
Nik

Good to know you had a config backup, you can always do mirrored USB's too

I haven't had that problem. In fact, I find them faster than most of my other thumb drives. I've since graduated to the USB3 version, but I had no problem with speed. Boots were fast, changes were fast; I don't know.
