File transfers stop after a few seconds

My large file transfers stop after a few seconds. I've tried smb and ftp. Both fail after a few seconds. I just updated to FreeNAS-11.3-U5 thinking it would solve my issue. No luck... I have four 4tb drives making up the 12tb pool that I'm transferring to. SMART is turned on on all four drives. All of my drives complete the long smart test without errors every week. I'm using 10g nics in the source (windows) and destination (freenas) machines. File transfers typically run at around 2gbps before dropping off completely.

(I forgot to include) My freenas machine has 48gb of ram

Does your transfer fail, or just pause for a while? I'm wondering if you're seeing the same problem I wrote about here or something different.

They actually fail whether initiated by me as a drag and drop smb copy or sent through Filezilla via ftp.
