Thanks very much guys! I've downloaded P2 and I've upgraded to it. I'll see what it does in the morning since the large Volume gets scrubbed tonight.

Regards,

So I updated to 8.3.1-P2 and it crashed the same way as the night before . I started looking around at some of the customization's that I've done to a standard install. I had setup the disks to power down after 20 minutes and go into low power. It seems as though the system crashes while attempting a scrub when the disks are spun down . I set the disks to be always on and the problem went away. The system seems rock solid now (even with scrubs). Not sure if this is a bug or feature or something to stay away from.

Anyway thanks for the replies to help.

It sounds to me like your zpool might have some corruption that is irreparable. Can you post the output of smart info for each of your drives and zpool status? Put each one in code tags so its legible.

Kinda of a noob on the smart info gathering. How do I do that? Here is the zpool status with a scrub currently going on on Vol-Backup (which contains both Win8 and TimeMachine backups)

Code:

[carey@clanker] /# zpool status -v
  pool: Vol-Backup
 state: ONLINE
scan: scrub in progress since Sun Apr 14 14:41:40 2013
1.32T scanned out of 1.60T at 114M/s, 0h42m to go
        0 repaired, 82.60% done
config:

        NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
        Vol-Backup ONLINE 0 0 0
