Hello ,
It might be an old topic but I couldn't find any working FIX for it.
When I try to copy file to the NAS (I tried both direct wire connect and through the 1gbit switch) which is larger than (<1GB) My Ethernet drops on my Windows machine. After that either I have to restart the adapter or use the troubleshoot button. However, this happens 90% of times 10% times is successful transfers it ie. trying to copy 3.4Gb mkv

This sounds like a hardware or software problem on the Windows end. Your post has no information on which version of Windows or which network card is present, or which version of FreeNAS or which network card is present on the FreeNAS side, so it is difficult to be more specific.

Are you using Realtek on either end? This is classic Realtek.

Board is Gigabyte B85M-D3H-A
Unspecified Realtek GbE NIC. Figures.

Yeah, that is something you should address. Have a look at the Hardware Recommendations Guide, linked in my sig.

Just Checked, I will update server board in future When getting one. As for now I will try using Gigabit nic card on the server will see if that fixes the issue.

Just use an Intel NIC on the server. It might also be worth mentioning what type of Ethernet switch is being used.

Intel EXPI9402PT is a good 2-port PCIe option.
