You need a minimum of 8GB for FreeNAS to install, and for iSCSI work, you really need a minimum of 16GB RAM.

Please tell me that you allocated like 1GB or 2GB of RAM to your FreeNAS VM.

OK, thanks.

frankly, I just want a couple of iSCSI datastores to test PowerCLI scripts on my lab.. lol
I'll try something else.

Works fine on my box. Only have Workstation 8 on this box. This is 9.2.1.9 on an 8GB preallocated disk. 4Gb RAM. Obviously under spec and a bad idea... for anything but experimenting. But it runs good. Lots of time on 9.3 as well.

I build up freenas VM all the time in vmware 10 and 11. It works you must be missing something. Maybe corrupt download?

I agree. I've been using Workstation 9, Workstation 10, and now Workstation 11 without problem aside from "not enough RAM" and "not enough disk space" as the default FreeBSD environment is inadquate for FreeNAS.
