hi,
when I set up my TrueNAS server I did not encrypt my datasets, thinking it would take too much performance. I now tested it with a new dataset and found out its really not too bad, and now I want to encrypt my existing (child-)datasets.
Theres still 60% free space in my pool so I was thinking of creating new encrypted datasets with a _enc suffix in the name, copy the files over, removing the unecrypted datasets and somehow renaming the new encrypted ones.

  1. Ist there an easier way to do this?
  2. If not, how can I rename datasets?
thanks in advance,
R'N'L

hi again,
I'm now in the process of doing this.

Is there a way to copy Filesystem-ACLs from the old dataset to the new encrypted dataset?
