Does FreeNAS support FiberChannel?

I'm considering standing up a FreeNAS box using Fiber HBAs directly connected to ESX servers. I found a doc detailing a rather hacky installation of FreeNAS 9.3 on a fiber SAN, but I'm wondering if any further development has been done there, or is the de facto standard to just go iSCSI? over 1g or 10g ethernet?

Officially, no FreeNAS does not support fiber channel. Unofficially, there is as you say "rather hacky" method to get it to work. I have tried it myself with a Qlogic FC card and it does indeed work. You would have to experiment.
