Display size limit within phpvirtualbox?

Hello,

I have Ubuntu 16.04 installed within a phpvirtualbox 4.3.12 jail, and it's been working fine. I access the VM via VNC. However, I can't seem to adjust the display settings to any different aspect ratios or higher resolutions than 4:3 and 1024 x 800 (I think). I have guest additions installed. Video memory is set to the max of 256mb. Any help would be appreciated, I would love get to a little more screen real estate, like to 1920 x 1080

Thanks for the reply, I have it fixed. In case it helps anyone else, I was under the impression that I had installed the proper guest additions via mounting the VBoxGuestAdditions_4.3.12.iso and installing from the iso. Instead, I had to install what appears to be more recent guest additions or an Ubuntu specific additions via:
