Hi guys,

Sorry for the noob question but I was wondering what the recommended settings for disks should be in terms of standby, advanced power management, smart etc.
I've got everything disabled apart from hdd stand by which is set at 60 minutes and smart is set to true

Any guidance would be appreciated

Cheers

Smart should be enabled. I disabled stand by and advanced power management for my system.
Stand by can cause the disks to spin down and up a lot (depending on your use case) and this would be bad for the disks expected life time.

Cheers warri,

Dose disabling Advanced Power management mean that the disks will be constantly on, as I'm thinking that in the wee small hours there will really be nobody using it, as the bulk of its use is going to be as a media server/backup server when people are around the house.
