Hi, I am trying to install 11.2-U3 on a Samsung Evo 970 250GB M.2 and failing.

I put the .iso on a USB, installed into the server and booted. I make it through the entire process up to and including creating the root password but when I hit enter I get the following message:

"dd: /dev/nvd0: Operation not permitted The FreeNAS installation on nvd0 has failed. Press enter to continue"

The thumb drive is a PNY 32GB, I wrote the .iso using Rufus 3.5

The Server is intel core i-3 8400, MSI mini-ITX MB, 16GB corsair DDR4 RAM

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's weird. File a bug report and post the issue number here.

I am getting the same error message -- USB drive is booting to the installer, I create the root password, then get the "Operation not permitted" message. I've used two different thumb drives.

Processor is Intel i3 8100
MB: Gigabyte H370M
RAM: 8 GB DDR4
Install to: Intel SSD6 M.2 512GB

I never filed the bug report and never found a solution. A friend of mine is convinced it is a bad thumb drive, but you have already tried two (interesting). I have burned the .iso to a CD and intend to install it to the M.2 that way to remove the thumb drive variable (not that it should be an issue). Will update here whenever I get around to it.
