DataSets and moving files is slow

I created a new DataSet and when I move files in between my main Volume to the DataSet, it takes an excruciatingly long time to copy over. I've tried it through CIFS on my Windows machine, and I've also tried using the mv command when ssh-ing to the FreeNas box.

Does anyone else have this same problem? Is there a fix or work around for this, or is this just known?

It is actually bad enough that I'm debating about not using datasets. It would take me a very long time to copy over all my files, and then when I did, if I need to move things between datasets I'm not looking forward to that long time each time.

Moving between datasets will do a physical copy of your files. If you copy through CIFS, same thing happens. I've just seen a topic covering this problem like 60 minutes ago. Use the forum search, it has been discussed a lot of times already.

If anyone can point me to some of these other threads, that would be great. I did a search for 'dataset' and didnt see it right away. Also, I figured most threads would be in this section since it is under Storage.

There are more threads, a search for "slow file move" etc. should give you better results. Also using Google to search through the forums is quite efficient - add site:forums.freenas.org to your search request on Google.
