Goodevening,

My name is Michel and I am new here.
I have a question, ofcourse I searched but I could not find the answer. Maybe my question is really simpel....

Is it possible to put Freenas on the same HD where I put the data?

I have a 1TB S-ata HD. I made 2 partitions. My plan was to put Freenas on partition 1 and the data on partition 2. But when I install Freenas then the program "see" only the complete disk (1TB).
Thank you in advance.

Michel

Ok Will,

Thank you so much for the quick reply, I will try that.

But what if I want to build my HD in a empty NAS storage? Then I need also 2 disks?

At a minimum, just your 1Tb hard disk (data) and a flash drive (for the OS, to boot off of).

Most folks here have multiple hard disks in their server. Both to increase their storage capacity and provide redundancy in case one or more disks fail.
