Guys, I need some help here...
1- I am receiving this error (Currently unreadable (pending) sectors) on drive ada4
2- I started the smarctl -t long /dev/ada4 and get the LBA_of_first_error on 3750817224
3- sysctl kern.geom.debugflags=16
4- dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ada4 bs=4096 count=1 seek=3750817224 conv=noerror,sync
5- dd: /dev/ada4: Input/output error
1+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes transferred in 0.000079 secs (0 bytes/sec)
Why can't to write using dd if the sysctl kern.geom.debugflags=16 ?

My build is an ASRockRack C2550D4I + 32GB ECC RAM
The drive ada4 is related to a RAIDZ1 with 6 x 3Tb Seagate
FreeNAS-9.10.1-U4

Thanks!

@morofabio ,

1st things first: Back-up. If the drive is actually failing and you have to replace it, resilver will stress the other ones wish might cause another to fail and your setup is raidz1, so your data might be lost. With that said, stop trying to fix it and dedicate your time to back-up first.

Let us see, in pastebin, the result of
Code:
smartctl -x -qnoserial /dev/ada4
please.

My guess would be because the failing drive is failing.

Get a new drive
Connect the new drive to the system
Do NOT disconnect the failing drive
Replace the failing drive from the web GUI
By keeping the old drive present in the replacing process it will read off it
And wile it is failing it still has good data on it giving you some redundancy
But be advised resilvering will take longer if the health of the drive is really bad
If it has passed a long smart check it will be ok
If it gets stuck at a long smart check you might have problems

P.S. back-up

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the answers. Firs of all, I already have a backup! The drive in question is out of warrant, 3 years has gone... I will buy another one to replace, but until this not happen, I would like to have a work around to continue to use it until this new drive doesn't arrive.

Then uncheck the alert and ignore the emails.

I would like to have a work around to continue to use it until this new drive doesn't arrive.
There's nothing to "work around". The drive continues to function, so use it. Uncheck the alert (as @Stux says) if it bothers you.
