Hi guys,
after replacing all my hardware I am now running
Supermicro Mainboard H8SML
32GB Kingston ValueRAM DDR3-1600 ECC DIMM
AMD FX-8150
with an additional M1015 card.
I can find the LSI2308 card and attached disks:
Code:
[root@freenas] ~# dmesg | grep mps

I cannot find the IBM M1015 controller. It is plugged to the pcie2 x8 in x16 slot on the board. Any ideas beside replacing the adapter?

Cheers,
Hubertus

Um has that card been cross-flashed to IT mode? *** Note if you have never cross-flashed a card before, you may want to physically remove the LSI card to ensure you don't run any risk working on the wrong card.

It should be detected regardless of whether its been flashed to IT mode or not.

Many boards (AMD and/or desktop boards) do not support more than 1 RAID controller simultaneously.

mps is a specific set of hardware chipsets for LSI/Avago. I've never heard of mpi. No clue what that is. Either it's something super new or something really, really old.

MPI is for "Message Passing Interface" , I believe its a method for the RAID controller to pass through information to an OS.

Yep, I was just curious. Since I have never used a M1015 (all H200s here), I did see the mpi trying to load with a LSI MegaRaid 9260-8i before (was trying to see about a BBU Slog setup...).

So I was wondering if the M1015 was in IT mode if it would appear as something like "mpi0" instead of "mps0"; that was all.
